Avant Vous keeps how your family likes things on your own phone, and nowhere else. This policy sets out, plainly, what that means.

What Avant Vous keeps
Avant Vous keeps what you choose to write down about your household: names and how each person likes to be addressed, roles, birthdays, preferences, allergies and medical notes, children’s routines, your pets’ care, the photos you add, the briefs you prepare and your notes after a stay.
All of it stays on your phone. It is encrypted with AES-256-GCM, and the key is held in the iPhone Keychain, for this device only, or in Android’s Keystore-backed storage. Photos are reduced to a small square portrait, and their hidden details, including where they were taken, are removed before they are saved.
What we collect: nothing
Avant Vous has no servers and no accounts. It contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party code that collects data. The app does not connect to the internet at all; on Android it does not even ask for internet access.
We never see what you record, and we cannot read, copy or recover it.
If you have allowed your phone to share analytics with app developers, Apple or Google may pass us anonymous crash reports. They describe a technical fault in the app, not what you have recorded in it.
When information leaves your phone
Only when you send it. When you share a brief, as a PDF or as images, your phone’s own share sheet sends it to the people and apps you choose: by email, by message or by AirDrop. From then on it is in their hands, and the services you used apply their own policies.
We do not sell, rent or pass on anything to anyone, and no third party receives information from us, because we hold none.
What the app asks to use
The camera and your photos, only when you choose to add a portrait. Only the picture you pick is used.
Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode, to keep the app private. Your phone performs the check; Avant Vous learns only whether it succeeded, and never receives your face or fingerprint.
You can withdraw any of these permissions at any time in your phone’s settings.
Backups
You may export a backup from Settings. It is sealed with a password you choose: the key is derived with Argon2id and the file is encrypted with AES-256-GCM. You decide where it is kept, such as your files, your computer or a drive kept in your safe. If you keep it with a cloud service, that service holds the sealed file under its own terms, but cannot open it.
We never receive your backups or your password. A forgotten password cannot be recovered, by you or by us.
On Android, the phone’s own system backup does not copy Avant Vous. On iPhone, your device backups may include the encrypted file, but its key stays on this phone, so the copy cannot be opened on another device.
How long it is kept, and how to delete it
Everything stays until you remove it. You can delete any person, pet, brief or stay in the app, or remove everything at once in Settings with “Erase all data”, which also destroys the key. Deleting the app deletes its data. Backups you exported are yours to delete wherever you keep them.
As we hold none of your information, there is nothing for us to delete. If you have a question, we will gladly answer it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to see, correct, export and erase your personal information, and to object to how it is used. Because everything stays on your phone and in your hands, you can do all of this yourself, at any time, in the app: edit or delete any entry, export a backup, or erase everything.
We hold no personal information about you to hand over or delete. If you have a question about your rights, or about this website, write to us; you may also contact the data protection authority in your country.
Children
Avant Vous is made for the adults who run a household. It may hold details you enter about children, such as their routines or allergies; these stay on your phone like everything else. The app collects nothing from anyone, children included.
This website
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from anyone else. As with any website, the company that hosts it may keep brief technical records of visits, such as IP addresses, to keep it secure.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at its top. Because the app does not connect to the internet, any change in how it handles information could only arrive in an app update, which you choose to install.
